Forrester Research names IBM a leader in Mobile Development Platforms

Today, Forrester published its 2016 Forrester Wave™ evaluation for Mobile Development Platforms and I’m excited to share with you that IBM is ranked a Leader. I believe this latest industry recognition provides further validation that IBM’s rapid transition to cloud-delivered mobile services is successfully addressing the evolving needs of our enterprise clients.

Increasing demand for mobile applications is a driving force behind the demand for cloud within the enterprise. In fact, 77 percent of executives plan to do at least 5 enterprise mobile projects next year. But the reality is that enterprises need a diverse portfolio of front-end and back-end tools and services, including access to cutting-edge analytics and cognitive capabilities, to succeed. The IBM Bluemix cloud platform provides enterprises with everything they need from the next generation of IBM Mobile Foundation to API Connect to unique contextual and cognitive services that enable the creation of richer immersive experiences faster.

IBM was among the select companies that Forrester invited to participate in the evaluation for its report, The Forrester Wave™: Mobile Development Platforms, Q4 2016. In this evaluation, IBM was cited for its forward-looking capabilities with OpenWhisk and data access powered by a strong API ecosystem. According to the Forrester Research report, “IBM gains ground as it shifts to the cloud. The cloud is the future of mobile development and application delivery, and IBM is currently making that shift.”

IBM has helped more than 5,000 clients from around the world in every industry as they transform into mobile enterprises.

One specific example is SimpleC, a behavioral science company that uses technology to deliver media-based therapies to people with cognitive loss. By combining decades of medical and behavioral therapy research with data, analytics and cognitive computing on the IBM Cloud, SimpleC created a mobile solution that supports seniors who are managing chronic conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Using mobile and cognitive services on IBM Bluemix, SimpleC developed Companion Clinical Connect, a mobile app that enables clinicians to monitor groups of patients using advanced analytics. The solution has more than 2,800 symptoms that it correlates against to provide exponentially better insights and recommendations for clinicians. The solution currently helps senior care recipients achieve nearly 70 percent of personal care and wellness goals and reduce Alzheimer’s and dementia symptoms by 60 percent.
